Permanent Full-Time Critical Infrastructure Environment Canberra ACT (Onsite Work) A leading data centre and critical infrastructure organisation is currently seeking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer who will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting complex enterprise infrastructure solutions across systems, cloud, storage and virtualisation environments. This hands-on role combines project delivery and operational support, with responsibility for high-availability infrastructure, senior technical escalation, system lifecycle management, automation, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement and support complex infrastructure solutions across systems, compute, storage and cloud environments. Act as a subject matter expert across infrastructure platforms, providing technical leadership and lifecycle management. Deliver infrastructure projects within scope, timelines and technical requirements. Provide senior escalation support for complex server, storage, hardware, software and network issues. Monitor, maintain and optimise critical infrastructure to ensure high availability and reliability. Support and enhance cybersecurity controls and ensure infrastructure aligns with security and compliance standards. Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, performance and resilience. Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs and knowledge base articles. Collaborate with internal teams, vendors and stakeholders to deliver strong technical outcomes. Key Requirements: 5 years’ experience in systems engineering or infrastructure support within enterprise or critical environments. Strong hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Windows/Linux servers and enterprise storage platforms. Experience supporting core infrastructure services including Active Directory, Group Policy, backup and disaster recovery. Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell and/or Bash. Knowledge of automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, or Terraform. Experience with enterprise backup, monitoring and infrastructure management tools. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, VMware, Linux or ITIL certifications preferred.
